General FAQs

What areas or cities do you cover?

The majority of our team is based in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Our artists are available for travel NZ wide for a travel fee and we can arrange accommodation too if overnight travel is required for corporate events.

Do you travel to other parts of the country? What about Internationally?

We’ll happily travel anywhere you’d like, but there will be a travel fee discussed at the time of booking. For our corporate clients as required, we can arrange for flights and overnight stays should artists be unavailable in your area.
Our artists are available for international travel. Flights, accomodation, meal allowances & other incidentals will apply.

Can I book the same artist I met at another event?

If they’re available, absolutely! If they’re not available we’ll do our best to move things in order to accomodate you request. Alternatively, we can book from our large pool of artists and will book someone with a similar style and level of experience.

How far in advance do I need to book?

Our online booking system allows bookings four days prior to your event. While we do have a large network of artists available, it is recommended that you book in advance.
In the rare instance, if we are unable to fill your booking request, a full refund will be provided and you will be notified ASAP. For our private clients, we do require full payment prior to confirming a booking.
October through to May is our busy corporate season, so artist availablility might be limited. Please refer to the cancellation and changes terms below.

Why are your services so expensive?

Our artists are priced at industry standard rates, meaning our prices are super competitive amongst other professional companies.
We do offer some premium add-on options, but they are totally optional to make your event experience unforgettable.
Our artists are all self-employed professionals and are re-imbursed accordingly. We are also GST registered so all prices include GST and will be reflected in your invoice.
Our artists contstantly particapate in training workshops and our company constantly offers our artists upskilling options, with their knowledge and skill constantly being taken to the next level.

Do you have public liability insurance?

Yes, all our contract artists are covered under our $2m policy through AIG Insurance. An Insurance certificate can be provided upon request.

Number of Adults and Artists Required for your Event

How many adults can you accommodate per hour?

Face paint and sfx makeup for a larger event the number of adults depends on the level of complexity and size of the designs, Something quick around the eyes we can do up to 10 adults per 1.5 hrs however a full face detailed with the works we would spend 1.5 hrs per person.
Airbrushed tattoos being allot quicker we can do up to 60 adults in the minimum booking time of 2 hrs.
Please refer to the individual service description and for more information on how many guests can be accommodated for a specific service.

What if I'm having 50 - 100+ adults at my event?

Not an issue. We would recommend booking a minimum of 3-4 artists to reduce waiting times.
Our artists will bust out quicker designs and bring limited options for selection for corporate clients or large events.

Set Up

What do you need in order for set-up?

1x small table and 1x high stool or two chairs per artist and good lighting.
For airbrushing, we require access to a power point. If multiple artists are booked, 2-3 artists are able to share a large table. All airbrushing services includes a 30min set up and pack down.

What are your space and set-up requirements for body art?

We would need a couple of square meters in a warm room, preferable with easy water access and a table. We are very tidy painters, but we can bring drop cloths when required.

Do your artists require breaks?

Yes, for bookings over 4 hours, a quick 10 minute refresh and meal break is required.

Health, Hygiene and Product Info

What about Health, Hygiene and Product Info?

Health and Hygiene is top of our artist’s lists and they are all given correct instructions on and regularly practice sanitization methods. We can provide our business HSE plan for our corporate clients in addition to our site-specific plan for larger events.
We carry baby wipes and hand sanitizer / iso alcohol and use Dettol to keep everything clean and tidy. Brushes are thoroughly rinsed between clients and sterilized and cleaned between parties.

What kind of paints or product do you use?

All paints we use are high quality cosmetics imported from the US and Europe. They are FDA compliant (USA), approved for cosmetic use and water based. Our products are water based cosmetic makeup. We use a range of brands: Wolfe Brothers, Diamond FX, Paradise (which contain aloe, chamomile, avocado and cocoa butter – they smell amazing!), Superstar, Global Colours. All glitter is approved for cosmetic use and safe around eyes.

Face Paint and Body Art Specific

How long does it take for a body paint?

It depends on the amount of detail required. Usually it takes 30 mins to an hour to just cover a model from top to toe in one colour of paint.
The average body paint takes about 4 to 5 hours but if a lot of detail is required, we would require longer. When a body paint design requires more detail we can also work on it with 2 artists to reduce the working time.
For party body art and a bit of fun, we recommend 2 hours for upper torso, 2.5 hours if you’d like face included and 3 hours if you’d like something painted on the legs. For anything extremely detailed, illustrated or exact copies, book more time.
Each artist has a minimum 1.5 hour call-out time.

How long will the paint stay on?

The paint will stay on as long as you don’t rub it or make it wet. If you look after your body paint it will last a whole day, evening or night. We can apply fixing spray which will help make the paint last.
We recommend wearing a light robe or loose zip jumper over the top if you are travelling to an event and want to cover yourself up prior.

What about body paint or SFX makeup removal?

A hot shower with water and soap will take off most of the paint. Sometimes it is necessary to use baby wipes, make-up wipes or an old towel too.
Some colours stain some people more than others. In this case, we recommend soaking the skin in shaving cream for 5-10 mins to pull the pigment off. It works a treat on fake blood too!
If pros-aid glue is used you might need some oil (baby/ olive oil etc) to take off the residues. Soaking in a hot bath with oil will take off lots of prosthetic applications or try the methods below:
Use a sponge or brush and Isopropyl Myristate to lift edges gently.
Soak the prosthetic in a layer of remover if the glue is being stubborn.
Carefully work up edges and your piece. Do not rip off skin.
If you want to re-use your piece, use small doses of Isopropyl Alcohol instead. (Myristate will break down your prosthetic piece)

Will the rain affect my body paint or SFX makeup?

A heavy downpour will definitely ruin your body art. Our advice is to stay inside or under cover. A slight trickle of rain will not affect your art as long as you don’t rub it off. Some little splashes will dry up again as soon you are inside.

Is heat or sweat a problem for body paint?

Profuse sweating is a problem for any body art. it is recommended to try keep your body temperature cool as much as possible; stay in the shade on hot days and don’t go wild running or dancing while you are painted.

What designs can you paint on me?

Anything you like – we can paint a design you prefer or custom create something special for you based on your theme.
Ideally we would like to you send us some images or moodboards for inspiration and we can take it from there to work within your budget and time-frame booked.
Custom stencils are also easily arranged for the addition of your company logo or theme for any service, have a look at our custom stencil cutting for more info.

Body Art - what do I need to know? How do I prepare?

We would recommend getting some accessories to go with your body art to complete the look- boots, hat, boy leg shorts etc.
We can supply the “stick-on” g-string (recommended for corporate – risque’ only) and nipple covers for women, alternatively please supply suitable underwear/ boy-legs.
Males, we’d recommend you supply suitable underwear / boy-legs or trousers if we are painting upper torso.
Males – If you are unwilling to shave/ wax prior to the painting, we would require an additional 30mins for the booking.
For a larger or taller clients, please allow an additional 30mins so we have additional time for paint coverage.If you have tattoos please also book an extra 30-60 min for tattoo cover up depending on the size of the tattoo.

Pricing

Our minimum booking is 1.5 hours. Prices vary for the service required.

– additional travel costs apply for locations more than 15km from CBD
– bookings after 5pm incur a 20% surcharge
– clients are also required to provide queue control, pigtails or barriers for large events.
– parking charges are additional unless a car park can be provided for our artists
– Bookings are only confirmed once full payment has been made. Upon booking confirmation, our artists schedules are confirmed also.

In the unlikely event that we don’t have an available artist in your area, travel can be arranged for an additional fee. We will notify you of this at the time of your booking and if this is unsuitable, you will be entitled to a full refund.

    Hi Sam, Hope all your Halloween gigs went well. 
    Just want to say a big thank you to Kaz and Sani for their help on Saturday night. They were epic as always and did some great paint jobs (myself included).
    I wish we had been given more budget because there was definitely demand for paint jobs by the time 10:30pm rolled round but that’s not the end of the world.
