The Magic Brush event entertainers are dedicated to adding a touch of magic to your event. We are a collective of makeup artists, face painters, body painters, special effects makeup artists, prop makers, prop designers & costume designers who work in close collaboration with each other to bring bespoke events to life!

No event is too big or small, and although we are Auckland based, we service cities New Zealand wide with our large network of local artists. Some of our services are only available in specific cities, however we are available for travel NZ wide. Additional flights, accomodation and logistics can also be arranged.

We have a large network of artists, dancers, models and actors that we work in close collaboration on a regular basis with. We have a range of artists available for work New Zealand wide, all specializing in various areas of expertise.

Our artists experience ranges from 5 through to 20 years in the industry! By booking entertainers from The Magic Brush, you are guaranteed service, professionalism and artists who excel at their areas of focus. All bookings made by The Magic Brush are overseen by Samantha Fernandes, owner and creative director who has been active in the industry since 2003.

With over 15 years’ experience in the industry, Samantha has won several awards as well as trained professionally at the Cinema Makeup School in Los Angeles, worked on a fashion shoots and events in Hollywood. She has even worked with Weta Workshop in 2012 on Project Born in Wellington, assisting with body painting and special effects makeup applications overseen by Daniel Falconer & Sir Richard Taylor.

Our entertainers work with private clients and corporate clients, as well as event management and large scale event organizers on projects. We can arrange everything from booking your performers through to the costumes, props and the event supplies needed to run a successful event.

Meet The Team

Samantha – Sorceress, Owner & Creative Director

Sam lives and breathes makeup transformations and event entertainment. She’s a talented artist and organizing extraordinaire, with a passion for bringing new, creative ideas to life. The crazier your idea, the better, nothing is impossible!

Sam has completed a Bachelors in Fashion Design as well as the Master Makeup Course at the Cinema Makeup School in Los Angeles, Hollywood’s professional makeup school. She is also business savvy and focused on finding creative solution to bring you results.

Sam is passionate about promoting & supporting the industry; as of Jan 2017, Sam was invited to be a member on the board of trustees for the New Zealand Body Art Trust. The NZ Body Art Trust is a charitable trust with Richard Taylor of Weta Workshop as it’s patron. The Body Art Trust focuses on the development of highly creative projects embracing the enthusiasm and passion that young New Zealanders can bring to the creative arts, through the NZ Body Art Showcase.

Olivia
Behind the Scenes Fairy, Face Painter & SFX Artist

Olivia is an artist who found a passion in taking her painting techniques and bringing them to life through makeup. Olivia has studied Hairdressing, Make Up and Special Effects at Cut Above Academy.

Charisse
Social Media & Fairy helper

Charisse is passionate about make-up, fashion and creative self expression. She is multi-talented and assists wherever needed behind the scenes as well as keeps our online shop updated. You will often find her at events assisting with video & social media.

Kaz
Makeup + Artist Extraordinaire

Kaz is our all round makeup-artist extraordinaire. She has a degree from the London College of Fashion & has traveled the world; working in London, Sydney & now calls New Zealand home. Kaz has worked on TVNZ commercials, the History Channel and much more.

Sani
Artist Extraordinaire

Sani is an in-real-life fairy with a paint brush. Her mantra is “paint every day until l die.” A creative soul, as well as helping behind the scenes, she loves creating artworks on people, face painting and kids.

Kaysey
Makeup, SFX Artist & Loves all things Art

Kaysey is passionate about the world of art, particularly Body Painting and Special Effects Make-Up. She loves how art can transform a person into an extraordinary character. She professional working Makeup Artist & has graduated from Cut a Above Academy achieving Excellence.

Lisa
Face Painter

Mum of 3 kiddies. Always enjoyed art and crafty stuff & started exploring the world of facepaint when attending playcentre with youngest child . Self taught & still love the reward of interacting and seeing all those kids gorgeous smiles!
